The knife-wielding bandit who was shot dead last night by his accomplice during a botched robbery carried out at the fuel station in West Coast Berbice (WCB) has been identified.

Jermaine Jerrick, 35 years, who hailed from Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was pronounced dead on arrival at the Fort Wellington Hospital, WCB, shortly after he was shot.

Earlier reports were that he had the weapon pressing close against the fuel station employee’s body to warn him not to move while the other perpetrator begun taking cash.

However, it was when the bandit who had the gun in his hand pointed the firearm in the direction of the supervisor, the terrified service station employee began to struggle out of the other perpetrator’s grasp.

The gunman then fired a shot in the direction of the two men who were fighting and the bullet hit his accomplice who moments later fell to the floor.

INews understands that his partner in crime who was armed with a handgun managed to escape with $80,000 in cash before he made good his escape in a silver grey Allion (PTT 2704) which he took from a customer at the fuel station.

He is yet to be identified and apprehended by the police as investigations continue.
