[www.inewsguyana.com] – General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), Clement Rohee says that the APNU+AFC administration is taking bread out of the mouths Guyanese with the recent dismissals and persons being asked to proceed on leave.

Rohee made specific reference to Alexei Ramotar, the son of former President Donald Ramotar and the case involving Former Town Clerk Carol Sooba.

The younger Ramotar was recently asked to proceed on leave to facilitate an investigation into the E-Governance Project which he heads; Sooba was also asked to proceed on leave but was subsequently dismissed.

“Mr. Ramotar was sent on leave in the middle of a forensic audit of the E-Governance project, even after he publicly declared that he is cooperating with the forensic auditors and more so, he is the ideal person to answer all questions relating to the financial transactions and activities of the project…this audit is nothing but a sham to get at professionals who are supporters of the PPP and at the same time discredit the transformational projects the PPP had embarked on while in government,” said Rohee in a press statement.

According to Rohee, the APNU+AFC government is not concerned about the competency of professionals, but rather concerned with getting rid of PPP supporters

“Additionally, the PPP takes note of fresh efforts by the Hamilton Green- led City Council to go after former two clerk Carol Sooba, who during her tenure exposed the massive corruption and inefficiencies at that Council.Having locked Sooba out of her office and arbitrarily dismissed her, Green and his acolytes have now heightened their ‘Get Sooba’ campaign,” said Rohee.

He said that these actions are contrary to President David Granger’s claim that he is not going to be taking bread out of anyone’s mouth.

“Though these grave injustices, the Granger Administration has clearly trampled on the basic human rights of the professionals, who, regardless of their political persuasion, have a right to work,” the General Secretary protested.

  1. Who won’t want their own people in senior positions to give support. But the pnc should come clean, ask the PPP heads of state companies to resign rather than create an atmosphere of uncertainity and stymie progress. Eventually, most professionals will not work for govt….when ur govt changes you are being witch hunted by the new administration.

  2. WHAT THIS GUY RASHEED IS REALLY SAYING ? I READ THE STUFF ABOUT FIVE TIMES AND CAN’T SEEM TO MAKE ANY SENSE OUT OF IT .

  3. MR ROHEE, IT IS SO NICE, TO BOX WITH YOU, ARE YOU SOUTHPAW OR WHAT, I CAN SEE , YOU R SUPPORTERS BEHIND YOU CHEERING YOU ON, THAT NICE, REMEMBER IF YOU SUPPORTED BY THE MASSES, JUST MAKE HE M SILENT……..THAT YOU GUYS, ……THAT ALL FOLKS,……HMMM,I WONDER, I TOOK THE WRONG TURN,THERE, I WAS GOING TO GUYANA

  4. SLY ,” WHERE IGNORANCE IS BLISS , ‘TIS FOLLY TO BE WISE.” HOW DO YOU ARGUE WITH A MADMAN? JUST LEAVE THEM ALONE, SLY.

  5. Only Rohee could come up with that load of BS for his PPP cult followers to feed on and believe… Alexi wouldn’t know what an optic cable looked like if it came up and slapped him in the face…. You would need to employ a world renowned telecoms company to undertake that leaven if engineering, so how can a nobody with limited education and no knowledge of telecoms be in charge of a project like that???… Another PPP scam…. and as for that he-man Sooba, not qualified to work on the checkout at Guyana Stores

  6. First off Alexei Ramotar wasted well over 3 BILLION dollars and a project that may never see the light of day… let me put that into perspective an school costs 120 million to build he wasted over 3 BILLION he wasted 25 schools…. to raise every public servant salary by 10 percent would cost about 1.9 Billion annually he wasted over 2 years of salary increases….. the Hope canal with all the delays and extras added on costed 3.6 Billion… he wasted an entire other hope canal, if were to divide up and share that money among every Guyanese with in our borders it would cost roughly $4285 thats a case of beers he robbed every Guyanese that that is equal to a case of beers… I dont think the current Government too bread out Alexi mouth we stopped him from taking bread out of our mouths… , Sooba was woefully unqualified for the job sent there to undermine Hamilton as woefully incompetent as he is as well, just because he alingned to PNC/AFC/APNU…. (I dare any of you PPP idiots to contest this statement).

  7. ROHEE..You’re one funny guy, good for comic relief. I think you should give Linden “jumbie” Jones a call, this is good material for Nothing to Laugh About. So so funny.Trust me

  8. SANDRA, why don’t you do yourself a favour and read Keith Burowes’ report on the City council?
Compare the financial situation before and after Sooba
Read, research and learn before you blog as it is clear that your blog is based on ignorance.

  9. The latest in the long line of the current ”witch hunting” of those perceived to be supporters of the PPPC and including some supporters, is the head of GRA (don’t have any sympathy for him). The excuse is that he is sent on leave as well as dozens of others with accumulated leave. Will they be re-employed after their leave is over? If you believe that then ”pigs will fly”
In Curtis’ book Introduction to Central Government, he stated with regards to the Civil Service: ” Governments win elections and are defeated, ministers come and go but the task of running the country rests with the permanent Civil Service”.
. The way the Granger administration is firing top Civil Servants and replacing them with their cronies, goes against all principles of appointments, promotions and dismissals. They are now using a new terminology for dismissals: Administrative leave.
This Granger administration is behaving just like that Dictator from Uganda, IDI AMIN. He was notorious for employing and firing all and sundry even his own ministers, without due legal process.
BURNHAM PNC STYLE DICTATORSHIP IS SLOWLY RETURNING TO GUYANA

  10. this rohee is a real looney and an absolute disgrace to be the general secretary of a political party anywhere. the disgraceful thing of all is; there are hordes of guyanese ready to give up their sovereigns and heirlooms for the ppp party led by the likes of this dunce.

the nonsense that comes out of freedumb house has its intended audience and talk like this from rohee would only impress those on the lunatic fringes just as he is.

  11. Taking bread out of mouth. Watch who talking.
When Raj Singh from Guysuco was firing all of the young managers form Guysuco. It was ok.PPP had power then mighty and strong.
PONWA, BROWN, AND some others for nothing they were fired.
Under the PPP government if Alexi was an outsider like Brown and Ponwa he would have been fired for gross incompetency.
Rohee should give two reasons why Alexis should not be fired>
Dont use your standard to pass judgement.

  12. Mr. Rohee, please try to reason why they were sent home. Please try your best to understand the purpose. Meditate in it. And, bingo … You will see the reason!

  13. Look who’s talkn…Rohee! U ppl sacked a madistrate for simply doing her job. One word to describe him: barefaced!

  14. Rohee, something is definitely wrong with you. What did your administration do during their 23 years in power?you now have the gaul and audacity to pronounced on the coalation,s action?they have all right to do so.Soba was a powerful unqualified and arrogant woman, let her go sell bagie at Bourda Market or do some remedial courses to upgrade herself academically. As per Alexi, would Donald have kept Granger,s daughter if it was the reverse whereby the coalation had lost the election?wake up and smell the coffee Rohee and your line of arguments and also your statements are so poor which leave me to conclude that you are not an analyst.

  15. In my opinion all who are being send on leave are folks who were square pegs in round holes or dishonest, if those folks were doing their jobs and not stealing or incompetent then I don’t think they would have send on leave.
Sooba and the rest of them have the money they got from the tax payers. End of story let them live off of that.

  16. No one’s stopping them from working, if they are “professionals” it should be easy for them to find a job. Except, I don’t think there are jobs for professional thieves! Go to Uncle Bharrat, he’s got money, let him take care of them.

  17. With the amount of money that Mr. A. Ramotar made over the duration of the project, if being sent on leave is the equivalent of taking bread out of his mouth, then there should be no wonder about the state of the project…

  18. The Rohee logic: if you were incompetent or a thief or both under the PPP administration then you have a constitutional right to be the same under the Coalition government. Mr Rohee: listen me nuh: nutten nah guh so…..
