Alleged robber shot by police in front KFC


[]An Albouystown resident was shot in his left thigh by ranks of the Guyana Police Force on Saturday October 5 as he tried to rob a 15 – year – old.

According to the police, ranks on patrol in the vicinity Kentucky Fried Chicken Outlet (KFC) on Water Street, Georgetown, shot Orin McKenzie, 33 years, of Punt Trench Dam, Albouystown during a robbery.

Investigation revealed that Dhanraj Baljeet, 15 years of Lot 647 Block ‘B’ Montrose, East Coast Demerara, was in the vicinity of KFC when he was held by McKenzie, who was armed with a chopper, and took away Dhanraj Baljeet cell phone.

According to the police, during the process of relieving Dhanraj Baljeet of his cell phone, the police shouted at Mc Kenzie, but he ignored the police and continued his act.

As consequence, McKenzie was shot in his upper left thigh. Dhanraj cell phone was found in his possession. McKenzie and another man are in police custody assisting with the investigation.
