The Custom Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) has arrested three men on Thursday evening during an operation at Vergenoegen, West Coast Demerara.
The three men, Inews understands were busted with over 35Kg of cannabis. Two of the men were reportedly foreign nationals and the other a Guyanese.
A source explained that CANU ranks acting on intelligence swooped down at a house in the WCD village where they conducted a search during which several packages were unearthed. Upon inspection, it was determined that the packages contained marijuana.
It is believed that the cannabis was imported. The three men are expected to make their court appearance before the day is out.
This is the second successful operation conducted by the drug enforcement body in the week.
On Tuesday, two persons were arrested during a raid at a house in Charlestown, Georgetown. The operations unearthed a large quantity of cannabis and cocaine.
