2 more COVID-19 deaths, 158 new cases recorded

The Ministry of Health today reported that two more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.

This now takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 405.

These latest fatalities are a 76-year-old female and a 41-year-old-man both from Region Two Pomeroon- Supenaam. They on Friday while receiving care at a medical facility.

Meanwhile, another 158 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 17,617.

But only 1862 of these are currently active cases. This includes 18 patients in the COVID-19 ICU and the remaining 1844 in both home and institutional isolation.

To date, some 15,350 persons have recovered from the life-threatening virus in Guyana.
