Two houses located at Eccles, East Bank Demerara (EBD) were today completely destroyed in a fire of so far unknown origin.
This publication understands that both buildings were rental properties and were occupied by tenants.
The fire started in the building situated at Lot 76 Eccles, Old Road, EBD and quickly spread to the neighbouring house at Lot 75.
It is suspected that the fire might be electrical in origin but the Guyana Fire Service (GFS) is continuing its investigation before making an official pronouncement.
Reports are that all occupants of both buildings escaped unharmed, but are collectively counting millions of dollars in losses.
