The mangled car after the accident on Sunday morning

One man is now dead while two others are hospitalised after the car in which they were travelling crashed into a metal signboard and subsequently into a concrete fence at Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara.

Dead is 20-year-old Victor Adityaram of 496 Crane Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara while the driver of the car, 23-year-old Bishram Ramkishore of Lot 29 Goed Fortuin West Bank Demerara and   Kevin Henry, 23, of Lot 22 Good Fortuin, W.B.D are hospitalized.

Based on reports received, Ramkishore is in an unconscious and critical state at the Dr. Balwant Singh Hospital while Henry is receiving medical attention at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.

Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that at about 01:50h on Sunday morning the vehicle bearing registration number PTT 6297 was proceeding along the Vreed-en-Hoop Public Road and whilst in the vicinity of the Hand in Hand Insurance Company, a pedestrian was allegedly seen crossing the road and as such, to avoid a collision, the driver, Ramkishore swerved but lost control of the vehicle in the process.

He reportedly crashed into the metal signboard and subsequently into the concrete fence where they vehicle came to a halt. The men would have sustained injuries and were picked up and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where Adityaram was pronounced dead on arrival.

The two other men remain hospitalized. An investigation has been launched into the fatal smash-up.
