[www.inewsguyana.com] – Sixteen – year – old Matthew Vieira set the South Dakota Circuit afire with some impressive riding in the Superstock class in the first Leg of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club’s (GMR&SC) Race of Champions on Sunday, March 23.

The younger Vieira out did his father, Mark, riding with skill, class and composure to cart off all three of the wins in the class.

In the first race, Vieira trailed for most of the event, second to Heranand Boodram, observing his riding style and setting up passing opportunities.

However, with three corners left in the final lap, Vieira produced a Marc Marquez like maneuver to rocket past Boodram into the lead, something he didn’t relinquish after that.

The 16 – year – old returned to take the second and third races with no opposition after that, Boodram falling out in the second race and suffering a spill in the third event.

Meanwhile, Kevin Jeffrey also ran trouble free in his Group 4 encounters, Mark Vieira coming second in all three of the events as well.

Other events of the day saw Hemnand Boodram finish on top of his class in the 125cc division after beating off the challenges of grass track competitors Bobby Rasool and Andy Rajkaran.

The day’s sponsors included the Guyana Telephone and Telephone Company, Banks Beer and Valvoline Oil.
