Vendor charged for setting building alight

A vendor who allegedly set alight a building at Dowding Street, Kitty, was on Wednesday slapped with the said charge when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Forty eight year old, Ron Cromwell of the said Dowding Street denied that on August 13, he unlawfully and maliciously set the building of Hameshwar Sanchara alight causing damages amounting to $100,000.

On the same day at the same location, the man also made threats to the life of John Lewis.

The rat poison vendor was granted bail in the sum of $80,000 for the offence and was ordered to make weekly reports at the Kitty Police Station.

He will return to Court on September 26.
