A man was in the wee hours of Monday shot dead after he and an accomplice committed a robbery at Plaisance, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Dead is 20-year-old Kevin Thomas also called “Cross-eye” of Plumb Park, Sophia, Greater Georgetown.

Based on report received, the now dead man and another had stolen a motorcycle from a Plaisance residence and were riding along Victoria Street Plaisance, ECD when police on patrol followed them.

As the police trailed the two men, the pillion rider opened fire on the ranks. In response, the police returned fire thus hitting Thomas.

He reportedly collapsed on the roadway and was picked up taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he succumbed while receiving medical attention. His accomplice managed to escape.

Thomas was reportedly charged with armed robbery on January 20, 2020. He was accused of stealing a motorcycle between 2018 and 2019.

In addition, he and another teenager, Joseph Macey of Agricola, Greater Georgetown robbed Rashie Matura of a cellphone, cash and a wrist watch on January 20, 2019. They were jointly charged for armed robbery on January 24, 2019.
