Siblings charged for narcotics possession – one brother granted bail, one remanded to prison

Two brothers from the Rupununi area in Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) were on Monday  charged with narcotics possession when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
Nelson Gordon, 20, and Arnold Gordon, 21, both of Kumung Village, Central Rupununi, Region Nine, pleaded not guilty to their respective offences.
It is alleged that on July 6, 2016, at Rupununi, Nelson Gordon had in his possession nine grams of cannabis.
It is also alleged that on the same day at the same location, Arnold Gordon also had in his possession 146 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
Nelson Gordon was granted $25,000 bail, while Arnold Gordon was remanded to prison. They will both return to court on August 9.
