A 24-year-old security guard was on Friday evening robbed of $7,000 in cash and his haversack while in the vicinity of Savage Street, North East La Penitence, Georgetown by two men-one of whom was reportedly armed with a handgun.
The victim has been identified as O’Neal Hopkinson, of Savage Street, North East La Penitence, Georgetown.
Based on information received, the incident occurred at about 20:40h.
Investigations have so far revealed that the victim was walking east along the street, heading home, when he was approached by the two suspects who were clad in dark clothing.
One of the men whipped out his handgun, and upon seeing this, Hopkinson reportedly began to run. However, the men gave chase and eventually caught up with the victim before relieving him of his valuables.
The bandits then made good their escape on foot.
Investigations are continuing.
