A convicted prisoner who had just returned from a boxing competition held at the Gymnasium, Georgetown was later found with over 24 grams of cannabis hidden in his socks on Saturday last.
The illegal substance was found on the inmate by a Prison Officer at around 23:00h.
INews was told that the said Officer was reportedly conducting a search for a firearm at the Lusignan Prison when the drugs were discovered.
The suspected cannabis when weighed amounted to 24.5 grams.
The prisoner is assisting with further investigations.
