The People’s Progressive party will host its 30th congress this weekend and the planning committee said preparations are in their final stages.

At their weekly press conference this morning, Chairman of the Congress Planning Committee, Clement Rohee said this congress is touted to be the largest one and that preparations are on the homestretch.

Rohee explained that the final touches are also being put on the Central Committee’s report which is the primary document that evaluates the work of this body from the last five years.

He added that the 30th congress promises a stimulating programme for attendees while groups have already been sending in their amendments to the party’s constitution and resolutions to community issues.

As it relates to delegates and observers Rohee said the party expects friends and observers not only locally but from the diaspora.

The party also intends to honour those members who have been with the PPP for the last 25 or 50 years. The Party’s congress opens on August 2 at the J.C Chandisingh Secondary School in Port Mourant, Berbice.
