[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Youth Arm of A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) has come out in full defense of newly appointed Public Relations Officer of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), Richard François.

A statement from the youths noted that the ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP) “is seeking to take bread out of the mouth of a young, enterprising and industrious young man. No wonder our brightest are seeking employment in other shores where such idiocy does not occur.”

General Secretary of the PPP, Clement Rohee, yesterday told a news conference that Francois is openly sympathetic and supports the political opposition. However, when quizzed, General Secretary Clement Rohee refused to say which Opposition party the Former Ministry of Education employee is aligned to.

He said for his Party to make such an allegation then its information must be solid; reiterating sentiments expressed in a prepared statement.

“We the Youths for David Granger condemn this latest desecration of our Constitution by the People’s Progressive Party Civic Regime to deny Mr. Richard Francois on the ill-conceived basis that he may be aligned to an opposition Party. This is a blatant and ill spirited attack on the youths of this nation that have studied and worked hard and yet remain unemployed and under employed,” the statement from Granger’s youths noted.

The youths also made it clear that if GECOM cower to “this unprincipled and unconstitutional request by the People’s Party Civic we the Youths For David Granger will use every means at our disposal to ensure that Richard Francois gets justice.”

It was noted that Francois is a young Guyanese professional who has served as a Strategic Communications Consultant at the Ministry of Education, a Freelance Broadcaster at the National Communications Network, a Change Communication Officer at the Ministry of Home Affairs, as the Director-Corporate Communications and Public Relations for Total Communications in the United Arab Emirates, a Public Relations Consultant for Promoseven Weber Shandwick in the United Arab Emirates, the Public Relations Manager for the Guyana Power and Light Inc., and an Assistant Human Resources Manager at Guysuco.

He is also the holder of a Masters in Marketing Communications from Middlesex University London and has a Degree in Communications.

  1. ‘ No wonder our brightest are seeking employment in other shores where such idiocy does not occur.”
Obviously you never visited the USA.
Which other shores you talking about? This guy already been to other shores, but never get it good like Guyana.
    You behave like spoil brats.
GECOM needs qualified neutral people, not those who are APNU or PNC centric.
This is the problem and this is what you are taught.
    Just holler racism and marginalisation.
Go and fight and make yourselves nuisances.
    What else is new?

  2. Richard Francois returned to Guyana after working for a few years in Dubai in the Middle East. President Donald Ramotar was recently over in the USA where he was inviting Guyanese over there to return and live and work in Guyana….!!!!
