[www.inewsguyana.com] – The ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has rejected the criticism that it is behaving like a ‘cornered rat’ as it relates to its objections to the Preliminary List of Electors (PLE).

Shadow Local Government Minister, Ronald Bulkan, in a statement of confidence in his Party’s victory at the next general elections, says the tide has turned against the PPP/C as he declared them defeated.

The member of the Parliamentary Coalition – A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) – deemed the PPP’s consistent criticism of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Preliminary List of Electors as frivolous; adding that the PPP is “crying like a cornered rat.”

In response to this, the PPP in a statement last evening (Friday, September 06) stated, “In Checking the PLE to ensure a clean and transparent Voters List the, PPP is highly amused by statements emanating from APNU.

“If anybody is behaving like a ‘cornered rat’ it is David Granger who it was revealed by the Commission of inquiry into the Assassination of Dr Walter Rodney was the Commander of the Army when the high power weapons which later coincidentally or deliberately found their way into the hands of Criminals in 2005.”

According to the PPP, “It is Granger who for all practical purposes is a’ cornered rat’ for the atrocities inflicted on the Guyanese people by his Party which resulted in the deaths of several Guyanese who dared to stand up in defense of their democratic rights including the two ballot box martyrs on the Corentyne.”

The PPP statement further noted, “The PPP is of the view that Granger and his APNU is desperately seeking to divert public attention from its dreadful and embarrassing past by resorting to empty rhetoric and baseless criticism against the PPP.”

The Party says it will continue to check the List diligently to ensure it is clean and transparent so that every eligible Guyanese can exercise their franchise.

  1. the ppp should not only ensure that gecom produce a clean voters list but also that its polling agents stand up for what is right on polling day. they should not allow themselves to be intimidated by pnc thugs and any hostile crowds.

  2. The PPP/C must not give a mile let alone an inch!
Peter D’Aguair gave the PNC all the UF supporters votes.
The PNC then cheated and rigged every single ‘election’ or may I say their selection!
    They have ruled illegally.
Their incompetence and corruption cannot be rivaled.
Mr Bulkan is one lost soul.
A cornered rat stands above a brainwashed rat.
