Mechanic granted bail on fraudulent conversion charge

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 37 – year – old mechanic was granted $150,000 bail on a fraudulent conversion charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Wayne Anderson of Lot 38 Lamaha Springs, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that during the month of April 2012, at Bartica, Essequibo River he was entrusted with $1.3M by Rudolph Craig to purchase a pump and hydraulic turbine but converted the cash to his own use and benefit.

Police Prosecutor Bharrat Mangru presented no facts to the Court and had no objections to bail being granted to the accused. The case was transferred to the Bartica Magistrates’ Court for January 15.
