Police are currently investigating and armed robbery that occurred on Friday night at a barbershop located on Durban and Haley Streets.
This publication understands that two masked men, one armed with a handgun and another armed with an ice pick, entered the premises around 22:45h and robbed a barber attached to the entity and a customer who was receiving a trim at the time.
The barber has since been identified as William Bayley, 32, while the customer was also identified as 19-year-old Lawrence Payne, a football player.
Bayley was reportedly robbed of his cellphone and $75,000 in cash, while Payne was robbed of his cellphone, a haversack with his belongings and his football pegs, all valued approximately $145,000.
The bandit armed with the gun reportedly robbed Baley while his accomplice robbed Payne.
Both perpetrators then ran off in a southern direction on Haley Street, where they made good their escape.
Police were subsequently summoned and several persons were questioned in the area.
So far, no arrests have been made.
