A father of one was on Saturday evening killed on the La Jalousie Public Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD) after he was struck down by a car.
The dead man was identified as Mahindra Bisnauth, 52, of Lot 5 La Jalousie Boardwalk, WCD.
Police in a statement said the incident occurred about 21:30hrs.
The man’s widow, Molly Bisnauth has indicated that her husband had just left the home of a relative in the community when he was killed.
The woman said Bisnauth was about to cross the road when he was struck down by a white Toyota model vehicle bearing registration number PVV 116.
The father of one was tossed several feet into a nearby clump of bushes.
Bisnauth, who reportedly suffered a broken neck, was picked up by the driver of the vehicle and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) where he was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors.
The driver of the vehicle is in Police custody assisting with investigations.
