[www.inewsguyana.com] – Police have revealed that 15 – year – old Robin Hernandes of Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara who was struck down by a minibus and later died was allegedly riding a bicycle without lights, on the wrong side of the road.

According to a police statement, investigations are being conducted into the fatal accident which occurred at about 18:45hrs on Wednesday night (April 30), at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden Highway.

The driver of the motor vehicle remains in police custody. iNews (wwww.inewsguyana.com) was reliably informed that Hernandes was riding his bicycle and attempted to cross the road when the speeding bus slammed into him, killing him almost immediately.

One eyewitness recalled seeing the teen being picked up by the bus and flung into the air before landing in the corner of the road. No one in the bus was injured and its windshield was shattered by the impact.

Hernandes’ untimely death has left family members in a state of shock. Efforts to secure a comment from relatives were unsuccessful.
