A Jamaican national was nabbed at the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) attempting to smuggle a quantity of the illegal substance in deodorant bottles.
According to reports received, the 54-year-old man was nabbed by members of the Custom Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU) during an inspection of the bottles on Wednesday.
Reports are that during the inspection, the ranks came into contact with a strange scent thus prompting them to check more than 20 deodorant bottles individually.
The ranks reportedly checked and found the white powdery substance which later tested positive as cocaine. The drug was weighed and amounted to 580 grams. The man was arrested and is expected to be charged shortly.
