[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty – three – year Domitri Reis died this morning [July 18] after the house he was sleeping under collapsed on him at Sideline Dam, Beterverwagting East Coast Demerara.
According to residents, the young man was mentally challenged and would normally sleep around the community; however, the dilapidated building became his normal place of abode.
After becoming aware that the house fell down on the man, residents moved quickly and removed the wood and debris he was buried under, however, by the time this was done and the man’s body was pulled out, he had already died.
His family upon hearing the news arrived at the scene and was in a state of shock. The family said he was never kicked out of his home, but because of his mental challenge, he would not stay put and preferred to wander about.
