[www.inewsguyana.com] – Aroydy Branford, Jamarj Assanah, Omar Hopkinson, Andrew Stewart and Steven Xavier are all part of a squad shortlisted for next April’s indoor Pan American cup, scheduled for Montevideo, Uruguay.
The Guyana Hockey Board through a release has shortlisted a squad of 36 local male players to begin preparations for the April 7 to 13 tournament.
The last time Guyana competed in an indoor Pan Am cup was back in 2010. Guyana has been absent from the international scene due to funding.
Kevin Spencer, Aderemi Simon and Shane Samuels are some of the persons named in the squad who will seek the knowledge of Former National Captain Devin Munroe, as newly appointed national men’s coach Robert Fernandes is tasked with preparing the team.
The tournament is a senior continental world cup qualifier which means that the victorious team will earn the right to compete at the highest level in the 2015 FIH World Cup.
