‘Golden Jaguars’ confident of victory ahead of Sunday’s friendly against Suriname

Gregory “Jackie Chan” Richardson is tipped to make his return on the field for the ‘Golden Jaguars’ on Sunday when they take on Suriname in an International Friendly at the National Stadium,  Providence.

When Head Coach Jamaal Shabazz was quizzed on Thursday whether the talented striker would return the team he said “certainly, we brought him in the squad, he is a key player in the mix”.

Richardson, who had stints in the Major League Soccer, (MLS) last played for the Jaguars during the World Cup qualifiers against Costa Rica in June 2012.

In commenting on how preparations and the makeup of the squad, Shabazz said “I think the guys are confident, they’re working hard for the last two days; as usual we hope we can get the full field of the Stadium to train but so far so good.”

The coach further added “this game is to expose the players from the elite league to a higher level of competition and to test the works they have been doing in the clubs and these five days with the national team will certainly tell us where we are and our strengths and weakness going forward”.

The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has released the names of the final squad f layers for the friendly match.
Goalkeepers: Alex Murray (Alpha United); Jason Cromwell (Buxton United); Bullen Connor (overseas).
Defenders: Mark Mclean (Pele); Quincy Adams, Les Charles, Kester Jacobs (Slingerz); Solomon Austin, Joshua Brown (Alpha United); Trevon Lythcott (Fruta Conquerors); Linden Pickett (Georgetown Football Club).
Mid- fielders: Konta Mannings, Travis Grant (Pele); Tichard Joseph, Trayon Bobb, Devon Millington (Slingerz FC); Eon Alleyne, Jahaal Greaves, Lindie Dwain (Fruta Conquerors); Dwight Peters, Collin Nelson (Alpha United).
Strikers: Gregory Richardson (Pele); Vurlon Mills (Slingerz FC); Dellon Lanferman, Daniel Wilson (Alpha United).
