Fisherman remanded to prison for stabbing friend

The 25-year-old fisherman who stabbed his friend to the neck last week due to a heated argument over a woman was yesterday remanded to prison when he made his first court appearance at the Mahaicony Magistrate’s Court.

remandReports are that Leon Anthony Williams who hails from Huntley, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was consuming alcohol with his 22-year-old friend at a shop in the area when the incident took place.

One source had told INews that when the stabbing took place, the injured 22-year-old was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) immediately for medical attention while Williams went into hiding.

After a few days, the perpetrator was apprehended by police ranks who spotted him at the Stelling near the Mahaicony Police Station where he had gone to continue his regular fishing activities.
