Conductor[www.inewsguyana.com]A minibus conductor appeared in court charged with the possession of a gun and ammunition without being the holder of a firearm license.

Dexter Hopkinson of ‘C’ Field Sophia pleaded not guilty to both charges before Magistrate Judy Latchman.

The court heard that on September 29 at Front Road West Ruimveldt Georgetown, he had one 9mm keltec riffle and 10 matching rounds on his possession.

When the Magistrate asked the accused if he has any pending matters in court he told the court that he is currently on bail for robbery underarms at the Mahaicony Magistrates Court.

Police prosecutor Vishnu Hunt objected to bail noting that there was no special reason raised by the accused for bail to be granted adding that the accused may not return to court for trial if granted pretrial liberty.

The Magistrate refused bail and Hoopkinson is expected to make his next court appearance on October 23. [Royan Abrams]
