BREAKING: Hire car driver critical, 12 others injured in head-on collision between minibus and car

The driver of a hire car, HC 407, is said to be in a critical condition at the West Demerara Regional Hospital after the vehicle he was driving was involved in a head-on collision with a minibus (BPP 700)  in the vicinity of La Union, West Coast Demerara. The accident occurred shortly after 6:00 hrs this morning.

The hire car driver and two persons in his vehicle at the time of the accident are said to be seriously injured. The minibus driver, on the other hand, escaped with minor injuries. INews understands that about 10 passengers in the minibus had to seek medical attention for various injuries.

Eyewitnesses told INews at the accident scene that the car was heading in the direction of Parika, while the minibus was heading for Georgetown when they collided at La Union village. Traffic ranks from the Vreed-en-Hoop Police station were at the scene this morning carrying out investigations.

  1. The volume of BS that the drivers of mini-bus and hire cars do on this road, I often wonder why the Police ever go on scene after the mess these reckless drivers do to people’s live. The Police are so re-active to the lawlessness of the drivers on the roadways.
