Bandits threaten to kill 5-Y-0; rob, terrorise Meten-Meer-Zorg family

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Meten – Meer – Zorg, West Coast Demerara family is now left traumatized after two armed men broke into their home, beat and robbed them in the wee hours of Wednesday, December 09.

Forty – one – year old businessman, Ravindra Persaud told iNews during an interview that the two masked men removed the louver window panes in his toilet to gain entry at approximately 3:00 hrs.

According to the businessman, the noise woke him up and upon checking, he came face to face with the gunmen, who pointed the guns at him, demanding cash and jewellery.

Persaud owns and operates ‘Ravo Pool Shop, Grocery and Beer Garden’ which is located at his house for the past 15 years. He said that he gave the gunmen just over $40,000 and told them that he does not have any jewellery.

However, upon hearing that, the businessman said that the men placed the gun to the head of his 5 – year – old son and threatened to kill him. The bandits also fired a shot, while inside the house, leaving a gaping hole in the wall.

“…and he ask fuh gold and me tell am me nah got no gold. And he put gun pon da lil bai head and seh if me na gam the gold, he guh shoot the lil bai. So me tell am shoot me nah shoot the lil bai and me start beg he and thing…” the traumatized businessman told iNews.

He said that the gunmen also gun-butted him and cuffed him about his body. iNews understands that the bandits took away the businessman’s cell phone and a bicycle, leaving behind the bicycle which they came with.

Meanwhile, a neighbour who heard the screams at the house thought someone had died and rushed over to render assistance; however she was greeted by the bandits, who badly assaulted her.

Persaud praised the prompt response of the police and expressed hope that the perpetrators would be caught.

  1. Selena you hit it on the nail. Granger pardoning criminals results in higher crime rates. Again both Granger and Rumjaat heads are cemented.

  2. Hey god is great he is goinr to guide and protect you and those guys that rob you will not survive the next robbery .

  3. Rumjaat what are you doing regarding this out of control crime spree???? How many more will be robbed/killed????. Guess you are too busy in the rum shop. I sincerely hope this traumatized family can move on after such a horrific ordeal.

  4. I guess these criminals are god fearing people too.These animals should be hanged in the middle of Regent Street .

  5. This is terrible! I hope that the traumatized youngster is given the counselling which he would obviously need. Wishing all the injured a speedy and full recovery.
