DSC00553Courts in collaboration with the African Cultural Development Association [ACDA] today hosted their annual pre-emancipation celebrations for staff and customers at their main Street location.

The event took the form of a fashion show accompanied by drumming and an exhibition of food, clothing and crafts.

The African Cultural Development Association received $300,000 from Courts today. This donation will go towards the hosting of emancipation celebrations at the National Park onThursday, August 1.

Executive member of ACDA Eric Phillips said the association has been working with a number of groups to keep the African tradition alive.

Phillips is of the view that with all the anniversaries being celebrated this year, there is another emancipation that is where all Guyanese are freed from slavery and share one common goal of togetherness. [Nickhail Jaundoo]
