[www.inewsguyana.com] – Guyana’s Carifta team is in limbo of attending the championships set to begin this weekend in St Kitts and Nevis.

iNews Sport was reliably informed that Brenessa Thompson will be travelling along with her coach. Previously, Thompson’s coach was not named on the initial squad which possibly means that Thompson might be the only athlete attending the event since it was confirmed up to late last night that the team will not attend the games due to the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) inability to secure flights for their athletes.

However, with the Thompson development it is unclear whether a few of the locals or the entirety of the team will be travelling which is highly doubtful.

Telephone calls to the President of the AAG, Aubrey Hutson went unanswered for a comment on the situation while the PRO of the Association, Leron Brummel’s phone went straight to voicemail.

The initial squad; Linton Mentis (U-20 male 100m, 200m) and female sprinters, Michelle Powley and Avon Samuels, Compton Caesar (100m, 200m), Matthew Mckenzie (1500m, 3000m), Kenisha Phillips (200m), Cassie George (1500m), Claudrice Mckenzie (3000m), Chantoba Bright (Long and Triple Jump), Natricia Hooper (Triple Jump) and US based under-20 sprinter Brenessa Thompson. Yvonne October is Team Manager.
