A Baramita, North West District (NWD) resident who is reportedly wanted for several offences  committed on residents of the same community recently, is presently hospitalized in a stable condition after being shot twice on his right foot by a policeman who was armed with a service weapon.

The incident occurred about 17:00hrs on Monday at Williams Area, Baramita, NWD while two police ranks were in the process of arresting him.

A police investigation had revealed that upon being approached by two armed constables, the suspect allegedly assaulted and attempted to chop one of the ranks resulting in him being shot once to the right foot by the other constable.

It is further alleged that the suspect after being shot, with cutlass raised, charged menacingly toward the rank who shot him and the said rank instinctively discharged another round which stuck him (suspect) again on the right foot.

The suspect was quickly disarmed and rushed to the Baramita Health Centre where he was treated and is presently admitted at the GPHC.
