Three men are now in police custody after the vehicle in which they were travelling was apprehended with 45 grams of ganja.
The incident occurred between 22:30h – 23:30h on Monday on the Belmont Public Road, East Coast Demerara.
Police said that the men were in a silver Allion car which was stopped during a routine stop and search exercise.
The vehicle was searched and three transparent Ziploc plastic bags and a black plastic bag containing a quantity of seeds, leaves and stems were discovered.
The suspects were arrested and escorted to the Mahaica Police Station along with the suspected cannabis and the said car. The illicit drug was weighed in their presence and amounted to 45 grams.
The three men remain in custody pending charges.
