A “warning shot” was on Monday morning fired after a male suspect, “wearing a hoodie” was observed emerging from the bushes near the eastern towers of the Lusignan Prison with three bags, which would have probably been thrown over the prison fence had he not been discovered.
This publication was informed that about 01:00h alert police and prison personnel manning the eastern towers heard “crashing sounds” before spotting the suspect.
After the “warning shot” was fired the suspect fled back into the thick vegetation.
‘The area was immediately combed; the male was not seen but three bags containing one hundred and forty-one packets of cigarettes, four cellphones, 11 lighters, one power pack (battery charger), one ear piece, one phone charger, 15 packets of small-sized zip lock bags and 1794 grams of cannabis were found and lodged’, a police report detailed.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
