Two persons were last evening killed in a horrific accident at Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara.

The fatal accident occurred at about 22:00h on Sunday as the minibus bearing registration number BXX 7256 driven by a 23-year-old unlicenced driver from Five Door Koker Dam Land-of-Canaan, EBD toppled several times before coming to a halt in the vicinity of DDL.

Police confirmed that the driver was driving at a fast rate and might have lost control while negotiating a turn.

The dead teenagers were identified as 18-year-old Anthony ‘Junior’ Persaud of Lot 158 Old Road, Land of Canaan, EBD and 19-year-old Aaliyah Edwards, 19, of Lot 16 Land of Canaan, EBD.

Seventeen-year-old Johnny Persaud also of Lot 158 Land of Canaan, EBD and 16-year-old Michael James of Lot 29 Koker Dam Land of Canaan, EBD are currently in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Also admitted to the medical facility are 18-year-old Sabrina Corlette, of Hyde Park, Timehri, EBD and 18-year-old Seth Abrams, of Schoonord, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

In addition, 23-year-old Jessie Wishart, and 20-year-old Joel Wishart, 18-year-old Odarry Gonsalves, 18-year-old Valencia George and 17-year-old Shane Argyle, all of Land of Canaan, EBD were treated and sent away.

Meanwhile, a breathalyzer test conducted on the driver and it was found that he was above the legal limit of alcohol consumption. He is expected to be charged shortly.
