34-year-old Jermaine Bristol was this afternoon arraigned with the murder of his 24-year-old reputed wife Shenece Lawrence which occurred on Wednesday at Freeman Street, East La Penitence.

Bristol appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Principal Magistrate, Judy Latchman and was not required to plead to the indictable charge.

This Online Publication understands that the suspected was convicted of cocaine trafficking and sentenced to 60 months imprisonment in 2016 but was later released after he was granted bail in the sum of $300,000.

It was reported that woman’s body was discovered with a knife stuck in the neck. However, it was reported that after committing the act, the suspect, a Security Officer attached to the Guyana Oil Company (GuyOil) walked into the East La Penitence Police Station and reported that crime.

Based on reports carried in the media, the now dead woman was being violently abused by the suspect. Bristol was remanded to prison and will make his next court appearance on September 27.
