A repeat offender was earlier today (Friday) sentenced to six months imprisonment by Magistrate Leron Daly after he admitted to stealing an Air Conditioning Unit (AC).
Asif Mohammed, who was recently released from prison after serving an 18-month sentence for a similar offence admitted to stealing the AC unit when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The Court was told that on October 8 2017, at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), Mohammed stole the AC unit which is valued at $125,400.
The man who was unrepresented, casually told Magistrate Daly that he noticed parts of the unit hanging in his view while at the medical facility, and as such he took it.
Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh revealed that the man was arrested after he was observed by security at the hospital removing the unit.
Mohammed was previously jailed for stealing a gold chain and diamond ring.
He was sentenced to six months in prison.
