Kashif and Shanghai Schools Team Kitted Up!

players Pose with their Kits[www.inewsguyana.com]The 24 secondary schools set to compete in next month’s Kashif and Shanghai inaugural secondary school football tournament were yesterday given their playing kits.

The kits which consist of hoses, trunks, jerseys and other playing gear were handed over during a brief session yesterday.

After the receipt of their playing items, the coaches were briefed on the rules and as well as other manner of business relating to the tournament.

The tournament which kicks off on December 8 and will conclude on New Year ’s Day 2014, will feature 24 teams.

Schools from the areas of Georgetown, East Coast Demerara, West Demerara, East Bank Demerara, Linden, Berbice And Region Seven will be competing for $1.2 million.

They include Wismar/Christianburg, Wisburg, New Silver City and McKenzie High School of Linden; St George’s, Lodge, East Ruimveldt, North Georgetown, Queen’s College, Dolphin Secondary, Christ Church and Queenstown of Georgetown; Waramadong Secondary of Region Seven; Leonora, Stewartville, Uitvlugt and Patentia of West Demerara; Bladen Hall, President’s College, Ann’s Grove and Annandale of East Coast Demerara; Ash Education Trust of Berbice; and Covent Garden and Friendship of East Bank Demerara.

Seventy Five percent of the winnings will be used to finance a project identified by the school.

The second, third and fourth placed finishers will receive $750,000, $500,000 and $250,000, 25 percent of which will used for a project at those schools.

The most valuable player will be the recipient of a laptop, as well as a one-month stint with a top club in Trinidad and Tobago.
