[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has expressed its disappointment with the recent non selection of Guyanese players in the West Indies T20 or One Day International Team for the Irish Team.
The GCB in a statement noted that it will be seeking from the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) an explanation as to the reason for the non selection when it was evident of their performance.
The GCB dubbed the non selections of players such as Christopher Barnwell, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shiv Chanderpaul, Leon Johnson, Versammy Permaul, Devindra Bishoo and Ronsford Beaton as ‘mind boggling’.
The Board noted that these players would have excelled in the regional super 50 tournament which concluded on Saturday and as such it is puzzled as to why none of those players were selected.
The GCB said while it does not subscribe to a special number per country system for selection, it strongly believes that players should be selected on merit and performance.
The body expressed its loss of confidence with the selection panel of the Board and has asked to see the criterion or the basis by which the members were selected.
