Five BK employees accused of theft granted $250,000 bail each

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Five (5) employees of BK Group of Companies were brought before Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, July 14), to answer a simple larceny charge.

The five accused are 20 – year – old Tyron Ghani of Tuschen Housing Scheme, 30 – year – old Trevor Collette of Parfaite Harmony, 23 – year – old Sanjay Ramjet of Canal #2 Polder, 32 – year – old Kirk Inniss of Canvas City Wismar Linden and 41 – year – old Wole Archer of Friendship Public Road. They all pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Court heard that between June 5 and July 11 they stole one Mack Truck with a computer box valued at $1.2 million.

Attorney – at – Law Paul Fung – A – Fat represented the five men and asked for reasonable bail; he told the Court that the articles were recovered. The Attorney also noted that some of the items went missing years before his clients gained employment with BK International.

However, Prosecutor Seon Blackman objected; arguing that there are more charges that are likely to be made against the five accused.

The men were granted bail in the sum of $250,000 each.

According to a release from BK International, the five men were taken into police custody during the weekend for allegedly stealing Mack Truck spare parts from the company valued at approximately $40 million.

The Items stolen include but are not limited to a computer box, fuel pumps, hubs, brake liners, fuel injectors, axles, batteries, lights, wheel seals, steering ends, deferential seals, clutch plates, pressure plates, dump pump, break booster, wheel bearings, ratchet and stabiliser bars.

The release also stated that the company recognized that many of its trucks’ spare parts and other equipment were being stolen over the past year but was only able to catch those stealing the Group’s property last week.

Collectively, the employees have worked with the BK Group for more than 20 years.
