[www.inewsguyana.com] – In spite of the boisterous assertions by the former Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs Anil Nandlall that the Granger-led Administration has reneged on a promise, speaking to the establishing of a local law school, information has surfaced to the contrary.

“It was the PPP which had back pedalled on establishing a law school… I learnt at the last conference at which all member states were represented, that Guyana in fact got permission to open a local law school, but subsequently reneged on that idea,” Minister Williams explained.

These assertions were made at a press conference, hosted by the Legal Affairs Minister, on Wednesday in the boardroom of his Ministry.

Further, one of the reasons proffered by the former administration for not establishing the law school was its inability to pay intended lecturers an equivalent salary to that of other law schools, under the aegis of the Council of Legal Education (CLE).

Whilst the establishing of a local law school is quite a costly venture which the new Administration cannot now bear, the Attorney General believes that one can be birthed from either a public/private or fully private partnership.

“If we had a private/public law school venture…it would be easier for students to study here, as we have access to good clean healthy foods, a major component of the cost…,” Minister Williams explained. [GINA]

  1. Establishing a local law school is quite a costly venture one whish this administration now cannot bear….but they can bear to give themselves 100% pay increase while the other workers get 2&1/2 %,good going.

  2. Basil Williams has disqualify himself morally to lecture anyone when he asked Winston Felix (then Commissioner) to plant drugs on one of our PNC (fellow black) sister. Based on their taped conversations the PNC has been dealing with tons of drugs. Now we know who are the real drud dealers.
