An investigation has been launched into the shooting death of a 24-year-old man whose body was found at 16 Miles, Bartica, at approximately 17:30hrs on Monday afternoon.
Reports indicate that Abrahama Mohammed Khan, 24, was in the process of transporting a large quantity of raw gold for his employer, when he was robbed of the gold and the motorcycle he was using at the time.
According to a foreman attached to the mining operation who was travelling with Khan at the time, the gunmen shot Khan to his neck and robbed him. However, as they began to fire gunshots in his direction, he fled the scene.
A source close to the investigation told INews that the foreman was detained for questioning following the incident.
