Motorcyclist dies in East La Penitence accident

A 26-year-old resident of Plum Park, Sophia, Greater Georgetown is now dead following an accident which occurred on Sunday afternoon along Arapaima Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown.

Kemstom Richards, who was riding a motorcycle at the time of the accident, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital shortly after the crash occurred at around 15:30hrs.

Richards was riding motorcycle CK 7533, which was proceeding north on Arapaima Street at a fast rate of speed. The motorcyclist reportedly lost control of the vehicle and collided with a utility pole.

The man then fell on the roadway where he sustained injuries about his body, whilst his motorcycle travelled further in the eastern direction and crashed into two pedestrians, ages 15 and 24.

The motorcyclist was picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens and taken the Georgetown Public Hospital Cooperation, where he was pronounced dead.

The pedestrians were treated for their injuries.

Investigations are ongoing.
