Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 44-year-old man who reportedly died after falling off a tractor at Batocari Trail, Mazaruni District in Region Seven (Cuyuni Mazaruni).
Dead is Leonard Henry of Moruca, Region One (Barima-Waini).
Reports indicate that Henry, along with two other porters, were seated on the tractor when he fell off along the Botacari Trail.
Police said the man would have fallen between the left side wheels of the tractor, which ran over him.
However, the man got up and went back on the tractor as the group continued the journey to their mining camp.
It is alleged that the porter went to sleep however, on Wednesday morning at around 06:00hrs, he was discovered motionless by one of the workers.
An alarm was raised and the matter was reported to the police at around 08:00hrs.
Henry was taken to the Bartica Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty on Thursday at around 01:30hrs.
An investigation has been launched.
