A resident of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo was earlier today (Monday) arraigned at the Leonora Magistrate Court charged with the rape of a 17-year-old girl.
Indrajeet Mootilall appeared before Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool and denied that he carried out the act.
The charge brought against him alleged that he executed the act on November 22, 2016 in a village located in the West Demerara district.
However, the accused who has been on the run since the allegation was made against him was apprehended by ranks on Friday.
It is understood that the Virtual Complainant (VC) and the rape accused shared a relationship prior to the incident.
However, the young woman ended the said relationship and pursued one with the accused cousin whom she now has a child with.
The accused is vehemently denying that he raped the VC but continues to claim that he had consensual sexual relations with her.
He is also accusing the VC’s grandparents of instigating her to make such claims to the Court.
Mootilall was granted $100,000 bail and is expected to make his next appearance on September 29 2017.
