He was represented by Attorney, Maxwell McKay while the State’s lawyer, Mandell Moore prosecuted the case.

INews had previously reported that Jones, of Fourth Avenue, Bartica, confessed under interrogation that on June 9, 2016, that he entered Baljit’s room and hid himself until the victim was asleep.

He further added that Baljit woke up suddenly, during the course of the robbery and the duo were involved in a fierce scuffle.

Baljit’s father had related to investigators that on the night of his son’s murder, he heard screams coming from his room.

He revealed that he immediately rushed to youth’s bedroom, but the door was locked, resulting in him climbing through his son’s bedroom window and discovering Baljit lying in a pool of blood.

The father stated that his son was then taken by his stepmother to the East Bank Demerara Regional Hospital (commonly known as Diamond hospital), where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Baljit was stabbed several times about his body, mainly to the chest and shoulder.

Jones who had fled the scene was apprehended days later at the Georgetown seawalls after his reputed wife allegedly assisted the police and lured him there.
