Young farmer found dead in Berbice River with throat slit


Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 24-year-old Kevin DeAbreu, whose body was found floating in the Berbice River at around 11:00hrs yesterday.

DeAbreu, a farmer of Wiruni Village, Upper Berbice River, was found with his face mutilated and his throat slit.

The young man was last seen alive at around 18:00hrs on September 12 where he was imbibing with some friends at a shop.

Reports indicate that the man had departed the liming spree in his boat, and he was never seen or heard from since until yesterday when he was found dead.

Deputy Toshao Randy Osbourne was informed of the incident and he subsequently called the Kwakwani Police Station to inform the police.

The body of DeAbreu was then escorted to the Kwakwani Hospital where it was pronounced dead on arrival.
