[www.inewsguyana.com] – Suspected gunman, Keron Cummings is now in police custody, after he allegedly tried to shoot a woman in ‘C’ Field Sophia on Friday, March 14.

The woman, who was only identified as “dumb girl” was shot to the neck and buttocks during an exchange of shots between Cummings and Police ranks who were on patrol during the time.

iNews (www.inewsguyana.com) understands that the police were patrolling the C Field Sophia area when they saw Cummings pulled out a gun and aimed it at the woman.

Eyewitnesses told this news site (www.inewsguyana.com) that the ranks then shouted at Cummings, who then allegedly fired shots at the police. The police then returned fire and in the process, the woman was shot.

iNews (www.inewsguyana.com) understands that the police chased Cummings through the street when he decided to jump into the trench opposite the Sophia Health Center and threw away the gun.

The police caught him and recovered the weapon.

Residents in the area told iNews (www.inewsguyana.com) that Cummings is a known suspect in the area as he has robbed several persons in past. According to one resident, Cummings had a confrontation with the very woman sometime last week, after she refused to let him into her yard to drink water.
