[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty six – year – old Fazeela Khan of Eccles, East Bank Demerara, who was charged with obtaining money by false pretence, was granted $125,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
She pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on Friday, February 7 at Vlissingen Road, Georgetown, she falsely obtained the sum of $400,000 from Trisha Persaud by pretending to be in possession of DVD which contains sexual content of her (Persaud’s) husband.
Police Prosecutor Michael Grant said the defendant made arrangement to hand over the DVD to Persaud in exchange for the money. He told the Court that Khan had parked her car five feet away from the virtual complainant’s car to make the exchange when she was apprehended by ranks. Khan will return to Court on March 10.
