[www.inewsguyana.com] – President David Granger has confirmed that Carl Greenidge and Winston Jordan will play major roles in the APNU+AFC cabinet.
According to the President, Carl Greenidge who is a former Finance Minister, will serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs with responsibility for international and economic cooperation while former Director of Budget Winston Jordan has been confirmed as Minister of Finance.
The President also confirmed that APNU will have nine cabinet positions while the AFC will have six.
Granger said the official appointment of the Minister will be made only after they have been sworn in as Members of the 11th parliament.
AFC Leader Khemraj Ramjattan has been touted as the Home Affairs Minister while, Cathy Hughes is expected to take up the tourism mantle having been active player in the sector for years.
Meanwhile, WPA’s Dr Rupert Roopnaraine been named as a possible Vice President with responsibility for the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry while Joseph Harmon is expected to be confirmed in the capacity which he now acts – Head of the Presidential Secretariat, he is also expected to be named Minister of State.
The APNU+AFC, six-party coalition received a 207,200 victory from Guyana’s May 11 General and Regional elections, unseating the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) administration which has been in power since 1992.
