[www.inewsguyana.com] – Marlon Williams won the first cycle event of the year, defending his Ricks and Sari Agro Industries title on Saturday, January 24 at the National Park.

Williams, who switched to the countries newest cycle tea, Team Evolution, won the event in 20 minutes and 11 seconds.

Alanzo Greaves finished second while Hamzah Eastman was third in the event. Mark Harris, Alonzo Ambrose and Christopher Griffith finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Ambrose and Greaves rode away with two prime prizes each while Jamal John, Junior Niles, Harris and Michael Anthony won a prime prize each in the featured race.

Meanwhile, Romello Crawford out of Berbice won the Juveniles race while Sherwin Sampson won both the BMX Boys 9-12 and 12-14 categories.

National Cycling Coach, Hassan Mohamed noted that 2015 will be a good year for cycling and revealed that February will have four races for Guyana’s top cyclists as he aims to surpass cycling’s 2014 year.
